It took both Karen and Regina to prompt Jeannie to be photographed. She was very reluctant, but the results speak for themselves! She had so much fun, and we captured some gorgeous photos of her!
Here's a bit of her story:
Not old, but “less young” at age 69. Born and lived most of my life in Roanoke.
I’m retiring soon, having spent most of my career in banking. I was also fortunate to train and practice massage therapy.
My focus has been family. My two sons and two grandchildren are my greatest joys and accomplishments.
I don’t have a list of talents, but one that’s most appreciated is my baking😊
Most people perceive me as a strong, independent woman with a kind heart. I feel that my kindness is my best trait.
I have survived many hardships and obstacles in this lifetime and if I could say something to my 20-year-old self that could have helped navigate, it would be: You are lovable, worth so much more than you have been made to feel. And, you have a voice!!!
To my 69-year-old self, I’d say that it’s never too late to listen to your voice. I now have a future that gives me so much to look forward to.
Not a quote, but words in an old song by Jewell that have always spoken to my heart: “In the end, only kindness matters.”
