Portraits of Suzanne

Suzanne is an uber-talented woman: actress on stage and screen, dancer, singer... and makeup artist! She's stepped in front of my camera for a variety of looks to use in her portfolio. Here are just a few.

Suzanne was part of my first round of "Over 50 with Maggie" exhibit.

Her biography:

My values have definitely changed over the years. I value time more now. Time with others, time to go and do. Time, because it is not a guarantee, as we foolishly thought in our younger years.  I value my 91 year old mother and her wisdom, as well as I value my children and their dreams, goals and aspirations. I value my health, and that I know how to take better care of myself. I value my relationship with God, the most important relationship ANYONE can have. The significant points of change in my life are any moment when God 'hit me in the back of the head with a 2x4'. There have been several. One, was when he sent me back home from Los Angeles.... I didn't know why until 10 years later. There were three children He knew would need a loving home, and we adopted them. And the moments that happen when you transform from having two parents to one. The change that had to happen then was most uncomfortable, but growth inspiring. It was then, that many of my aforementioned values took hold.

I have a form of a bucket list, mostly for my career. I've accomplished several of them... like being able to work with some of my favorite actors. Cameron Arnett and Karen Abercrombie are two who were near the top.

We aren't 'out of touch', we are more IN TOUCH with the things that truly matter. We would survive if all this 'internet stuff' disappeared.... we got along without it before it ever came along, we would survive without it. We aren't stupid. We know times are different... duh. However, the human condition hasn't really changed, we are just inundated with so much more 'informational junk' than ever before. We are still born, live and die. All the junk that's been 'added to it' doesn't change any of that.

Naturally, I actually felt most attractive when I thought I was not. As we all look back, how many of us say, "If I could only be as thin as I was when I thought I was fat." We all look back with hindsight that's 20/20. Yet, today as we age and learn new, bolder values, I submit that I feel pretty good about myself right now. I embrace the sparkle God has put in my hair, the lines on my face that display I concerned myself with my children's welfare and sat out in the sun to watch them play ball. I am now, empty nested and can pursue my original passions.... the use of my talents to go where God puts me. To me wisdom, passion, being comfortable in our own skin, and a peacefulness is extremely attractive. Physical attributes take a back seat to all of that. The one piece of advice to my 20 year old self: develop respect for others and yourself, self discipline and healthy boundaries.... in all areas of your life. Health, Relationships, Spirituality, Career paths etc.
