Some time back I shared about sizing wall art for your available space.
In it, I take on the role of interior decorator: viewing distance, height, and size of the piece or grouping. Don’t panic! I take care of all that for you (full-service boutique includes all the math and the installation). But as a reminder,
As a general rule in the decorating world, proper viewing distance for artwork is from three to four feet away. Tape a piece of standard printer paper to your wall. That’s 8.5x11 inches. Are you sure you just want an 8x10? I think you’ll agree that it’s a bit small all by itself… or unless you have a much tighter viewing distance.
I now have a couple of visuals for you to see relative sizing of the most common sizes, from 5x7 (best suited for desktops or mantels) to an impactful 30x40 (a great statement piece for over the sofa).

p.s. The subject of these photographs had a Couture Sensational Session, which included the rental of this “high-flying” dress. Her vertically oriented photograph is being custom printed at a nonstandard 10x20, then matted and framed to 20x30, as it will be hung in a fairly tight area.
