For many people, the idea of being photographed is… uncomfortable. They know that they need to show up, but don’t want to go through the process. Here are a few ways to make your photo session more enjoyable.
- Prepare! Consider the story you want to tell with your photographs. What clothing style will reflect that? What props? What locations? Knowing these and proper prior planning will help you feel more comfortable.
- Ask questions! Read anything your photographer sends you to help prepare. If something isn’t clear, ask about it. If you are inspired by something in your planning, share it with your photographer and ask about if and/or how you can incorporate the idea in your session.
- Trust your photographer! If they ask you to do something, even if it feels a little weird, understand that they are seeing you from a different perspective. They are trying to make you look your best, taking into account the lighting, their equipment, and more.
- Be yourself! Really, your session is about YOU. Have fun with the experience! Dance along to your favorite music. Share your humor. Feel free to make mistakes and laugh about them.
