When you are hiring your wedding photographer, please consider the opportunity to have a pre-wedding session with them. Your photographer will be spending literally hours with you on what is arguably one of the most important days of your life. Get to know them, and let them get to know you, before that Big Day!
Take the opportunity to get comfortable with them and how they operate when working. Are they very directive? Or more hands-off? Learn what to expect while posing and/or interacting in front of their camera shutter, especially if being photographed is not an activity you are looking forward to.
What kinds of shoots might you have before the wedding? The most obvious is a traditional engagement session, featuring you and your partner. Make it personal to you! Some ideas to get you thinking are on this previous post about couples’ sessions.
You might also consider a solo bridal session, featuring you in your gown ahead of time… or even after the wedding. I’ve shared several options at this previous post on bridal photography.
