Photographers that Inspire

Question: What photographers are your biggest inspiration, and what about their work speaks to you?

Answer: Thanks to the WWW, I’ve been inspired by – and continue to learn from – many photographers. Here are a few, in roughly the order I found them…

  1. Jasmine Star – SoCal wedding photographer turned social media maven – creates beautiful, bright images that have inspired my style of clean, authentic photographs.
  2. Jerry Ghionis – international wedding photographer – who makes beautiful imagery happen in the most unlikely places in a short amount of time… and is just a master of light and posing.
  3. Sue Bryce – international portrait photographer and probably my biggest mentor – taught me posing and lighting to flatter women… and that specializing in women’s portraits was actually a viable business model. I had my photo taken by her as part of a week-long class she held in Seattle in 2012. While her style has shifted over the last decade, her underlying “rules” remain.
  4. Lindsay Adler – NY fashion photographer – is the whole package: lighting, posing, retouching… from simple to creative, her work is always clean and very engaging.
  5. Jen Rozenbaum – NY-based boudoir photographer – has such an empowering message for every woman to embrace whatever makes her feel feminine… and she’s a pose master!

There are quite a few others I follow for a variety of reasons, from inspiration to education, including Stacie Frazier (boudoir), Peter Hurley (headshots), Gary Hughes (headshots), Sal Cincotta (weddings), Vanessa Joy (weddings), and Joy Vertz (portraits), among others.

All create beautiful work that inspires me to work harder for you.
