Looking Good in Photos: Color and Pattern

July 03, 2020  •  Leave a Comment

When it comes to pictures of people, I always recommend that people choose colors that complement their skin tone (cool, warm, or neutral). When in doubt, match/coordinate with your eyes – you know, the color that makes them pop!

I also recommend staying away from patterns near your face. Why? Here’s an experiment for you. Pick up a clothing catalog, and flip through it. What is your eye drawn to: the model’s face, or the clothing? Clothing companies know that patterns tend to draw attention! In portraits, however, I want your beautiful face to be the highlight of the picture.

If you are attending an event that you know will mean your photograph might be taken, keep this tip in mind while deciding what to wear.
