As I approached two years in business, I discovered photographer Sue Bryce. She is an award-winning photographer who specialized in glamour photography for women. Sue completely reassured me that focusing on photographing women, which was the original impetus for starting my business, was a viable niche. I learned her techniques, and even flew to Seattle to be in one of her week-long classes in person – and to be photographed by her.
I also started learning more about boudoir photography, and how to best create flattering poses for these intimate sessions. I sought out models to practice with. Eventually I was blessed to have a dear friend, who hated having her picture taken, choose me to shoot her boudoir session. She told me she had never felt so beautiful in photographs before. Kelly passed away just months later, following a sudden-onset illness, and I was so glad we had taken non-boudoir images to share with family and friends that she was proud to show off.
