Flashback Friday: 2019 – Year of the Styled Shoots

It seems 2019 was the Year of the Styled Shoot, with four sessions to create branding images for the planners, designers, caterers, bakers, florists, venues… and people (some models; some not). The year started off with an epic multicultural styled shoot with talented designers creating beautiful backdrops for gorgeous portraits based on the national cultures in places like Italy, Greece, Ireland, and more. A later LGBTQ styled shoot was styled with a rainbow of color themes and real couples celebrating real love! Powdered paint pigment and smoke bombs made for a Color War styled shoot – less about the styling; more about the fun. A Gothic styled shoot – just in time for Halloween – featured a previously-abandoned venue that’s now undergone renovation. Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy photographing abandoned places? I squeeze those in whenever I can.

I’m always ready to learn something new, so I traveled across the state for a Headshot workshop with one of the best in the business, Gary Hughes. Of course, personal branding and headshot sessions were on tap, as well as senior and boudoir sessions… and the sweetest elopement between two 70-somethings.
