Over 50? Yes, You Should.

The kids have moved out on their own, so those family photos? Not happening so much anymore. How often are you appearing in photographs now? While your nest is full, you might actually be in some pictures with your family. Now that it’s empty? You still need to show up! Your family still wants to see you – as you are right now.

You know what else you should consider? A boudoir session! Yes, really! Whether you share those images with your significant other, or they never see the light of day after you receive your prints, it’s worth it to invest in a few hours dedicated to you and your personal version of sexy.

I did a boudoir shoot myself just before I turned 50… and it was quite the experience. As a boudoir photographer, I know what’s involved from “my” side of the session. It was a learning opportunity to be in front of the camera. A photographer I had met before, and who’s hair-and-makeup artist and assistant I’ve worked with before, was holding sessions at a special location… so I signed up. And I felt ALL the feelings I’m sure my clients feel, from excitement to doubt. I nearly cancelled – several times – but remembered the work they had already put into my shoot before I arrived: blocking their time, getting the set ready, getting equipment ready… so I did it! And if you’re reading this, I’m sharing where you can get a glimpse of some of the images: see this Dropbox folder. With permission from the photographer, we cropped one for me to use as a profile pic. No one knew it was from a boudoir session.

Your boudoir session, of course, will be customized for you. I will ask you to stretch your comfort zone, but will never ask you to do anything you are not comfortable doing. And we’ll create images you’ll feel “safe” to share, keeping the true nature our secret, if you want. If you’re up for sharing, that would be awesome! But if you want to keep your images anonymous, I will honor that request. Your model release gives you the option to choose, and you can change your mind later.

Are you feeling brave?
