I continue to study lighting and posing techniques, because even the most subtle changes can make a huge difference. Lighting and posing for men is quite different than what is flattering for a woman, and I’ve learned how to shoot for those differences. In simple terms, men look more striking with directional light and straight-on poses, whereas women tend to look better with “flat” light and angled poses. When you shoot with me, I’ll watch for how the light is hitting you (Is it creating under-eye shadows? Is it creating sun spots?) and how you look in camera (Am I looking up your nose or into your armpit?)… and shift you, me, or the light to make sure your images reflect you at your very best.
