With each session, from portraits to personal branding, including limited sessions, I ask that you sign a contract, designed to make everything clear for both of us. It will list exactly what services are being rendered (e.g., “Portrait photography at [location] on [date] at [time] for a [standard or custom] session fee of [price].”), and provides additional details throughout.

Without reprinting the entire thing… our contract will address your session retainer (required to lock in your date and time) and final payment (no images will be released until paid in full), cancellation, and rescheduling, and lets you know when to expect your print products.

It addresses our hair and makeup artists, and my artistic rights and creative control of the session and editing. All photographic materials remain my property (I own the copyright), but you are granted personal print/reproduction rights for images purchased at our in-person review/ordering session. Personal use means you cannot submit your to contests without my written permission, or reproduce them for commercial use (e.g., offered for sale). Additional limited license rights are granted for personal branding sessions.

Our contract also addresses what happens if I am unable to perform per our agreement and includes other legal jargon should something go really wrong that I’m happy to address with you before signing. I will generally leave the contract with you at our in-person consultation, and have you sign and return it on or before the session. Please note that the contract is not considered fully executed until both signatures are affixed; a final copy will be provided for your records.
